Yes, I know, we skipped the recap post last week…I normally sit down and write these posts on a Tuesday night after I let the full week of football wash over me for a day, but with that you know kind of important event that took place last Tuesday that stretched into Saturday and probably beyond- I was a little distracted. We don’t live in the past here, so without further ado, allow me to present to you, Week 9!
I can say with ease, the most shocking game of the week was the Saints dominating the highly touted Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football. We all tuned in for a QB dual, I expected to see the “breaking news” banner at least a few times letting us know which of the two, Drew or Tom, was the momentary all-time passing touchdown leader, but we did not get that dream. Instead, we had a Jameis Winston sighting:

Antonio Brown made his season debut for the Bucs, making an impressive catch in an otherwise quiet night for him and the entire offense. We will keep an eye on him in the weeks to come.
The Buffalo Bills showed the rest of the league they are, indeed, FOR REAL! The Bills beat the Seahawks 44-34, thrusting Josh Allen right back into the MVP conversation. Although 2020 has been notoriously rough (severe understatement), a bright spot of the weekend was the fan response to the passing of Josh Allen’s grandmother:
Josh Allen's grandma died over the weekend and @BuffaloBills fans have honored her by donating to Oishei Children's Hospital.

The Panthers gave the Chiefs all they could handle Sunday, playing them tough to a 33-31 loss. How did they keep it close? Plays like this definitely helped:

As did the return of Christian McCaffrey, even if he did get hurt again…yikes.
The new young crop of quarterbacks appears to have cemented themselves as the real deal this weekend. We’ve now witnessed the incredible arm of Justin Herbert for more than a few games and can safely say, this guy is no mirage:

The Chargers keep losing but they have to feel good about their guy at the most important position.
Week 9 was the second game for recently anointed started QB Tua Tagavailoa, and after a shaky first win led very much by his defense, Tua flashed some of that top pick talent for all to see:

The more developed version of Tua was across the field from him Sunday, as Kyler Murray dazzled in their loss to the Dolphins:

The Ravens let the Colts hang around for a half before waking up from their slumber and dominating for a win. The Washington Football Team lost another quarterback, meaning Alex Smith is officially a starting QB once again. The Steelers didn’t look so hot against Garrett Gilbert(?) and the lowly Cowboys, with more bad news breaking today that Big Ben is on the Covid-19 list due to close contact.
I don’t know what has gotten into Dalvin Cook, I just know I want some…

As the season continues, the Covid-19 cases continue to rise, both across the country and within the locker rooms of the NFL. As a result, the league has considered adding additional playoff slots depending on how this all plays out:
NFL owners approved a proposal to add two playoff teams – eight in each conference – if regular-season games get cancelled.

Wear a mask, wash your hands, try to endure the remainder of 2020, and wake up for Week 10!
