I am officially in the fantasy football championship in one of my leagues on the backs of unlikely heroes such as AJ Brown and Darren Waller. While I’m excited to reach this point in the season, I’m even more excited about meaningful football games in Week 16 of the NFL season. Fantasy championships and meaningful football are hard to come by year after year, so if your able to have both, consider this your early holiday present! How did we get here?
Truthfully, there weren’t a whole lot of surprises in Week 15. Fantasy-wise, things got off to a great/terrible start depending on who had Ravens QB Lamar Jackson and his 5 TDs on Thursday night. You either started the week in a crazy deep hole or were up big. Regardless, the Ravens rolled to a 42-21 victory over the Jets and RB Mark Ingram also grabbed 2 TDs, rewarding his fantasy owners as well. The real highlight? Matthew Judon (my favorite non-Eagle) once again entertaining us with his dance moves during a postgame interview:

The haters can take a nice long look at this unbelievable throw by Carson Wentz in the Eagles win over the team from Washington to keep their playoff hopes alive:
Credit where it's due; this was an incredible throw from Carson Wentz.

That throw and this run (below) saved the Eagles season at least for another week…

Bucs QB Jameis Winston is waving bye to his haters on his way to solidifying another year of starting, somewhere!? Jameis was your best bet against QB Lamar Jackson this week with his 4 TDs…
Jameis Winston is the 5th player in NFL history with multiple career games of 450 pass yards and 4 pass TD

He’s also now the 1st player in NFL history to throw for 450 yards in consecutive games. pic.twitter.com/fZliVKijbn
The Chiefs haven’t been quite as dominant this year as last, but with QB Pat Mahomes and A LOT of snow, they stifled the Broncos in a 20-point win. I must admit, these conditions look fun…
#Chiefs are getting ready for the #Broncos the best way possible.

In the more surprising Sunday matchups, the Cowboys handedly beat the LA Rams, of course, setting up an Eagles/Cowboys game in which the winner takes the pitiful NFC East crown. It may have been painful, we here we are! If your looking for some fanbases with a lot of hate, specifically towards each other’s QBs, this is the game for you.

The Titans fell to the Texans in an important divisional battle, but the implications were also felt throughout the fantasy world. Texans RB Carlos Hyde ran for over 100 yards and a TD, and WR Kenny Still grabbed the only 2 TDs tossed by QB Deshaun Watson (sorry Hopkins and Fuller owners!). Titans WR AJ Brown rewarded all those who have taken a chance on him late in the season, while RB Derrick Henry’s consistent season let people down just in time for the semifinals (totaling only 86 yards and 0 TDs, this was SO not the time!). Not the AB I thought would carry me into the fantasy finals, but I have a good feeling about this one…did I mention he seems so humble and grounded?
Didn’t know Drew Brees was 40

Speaking of upsets and WR Julio Jones, the insanely confusing Atlanta Falcons once again beat a good team (the 49ers) unexpectedly on a Julio TD with 2 seconds remaining. For fantasy fans, check out these monster numbers from each team’s heavyweight:
Wow, today:
— David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) December 16, 2019
Julio Jones: 13 catches, 134 yards
George Kittle: 13 catches, 134 yards
If you weren’t sold on the 49ers before, this game gave plenty of fuel to the doubters, especially as the 49ers drop from 1st seed to a wild card (5th seed) in playoff position.
If your entering championship weekend, give a wave to all your haters and if you’re already out of the playoffs, heck, do the same!
